The Engineering Management Department (TEMD), with 800 undergraduate students and 3-year-course students, was firstly founded in 1989 as Infrastructure Investment Department and has been officially established with its current name in 2007. It now has three undergraduate degree programs including Engineering Management, Real Estate Management & Development and Land Resources Management, as well as two 3-year-course degree programs as Engineering Cost Management and Investment and Financing.
Through practices in teaching and researching for years, TEMD now has a competitive team of teaching and researching. Among the 35 teaching and administrative staff, there are 4 professors, 7 associate professors, and 24 out of the 35 hasmaster’s degree and above.
The teaching staff of TEMD has always focusing onteaching and exploring new methods of student development, curriculum setupsand innovations. Within the campus there is a practice base of engineering economics and management with many laboratories in it including labs for engineering surveying, project cost management, mapping, Real estate management and appraisal, Property information management, Investment and project management,etc. While outside the campus TEMD has set up long-term relations with enterprises such as Hunan Construction Engineering Group Corporation to train students. TEMD staff has been fairly active in academic researches carrying out more than 50 province (minister)-levelor prefecture-level scientific research programs and won a number of rewards.
TEMD always emphasizes students withall-around capabilities and sticks to strict student management and academic atmosphere. As a result the students in TEMD enjoys better innovation capabilities and qualities and as a matter of fact, the employment rate of TEMD students is higher than average in the whole university.
